Caycee Black Fall 2009

Hello readers and thank you for your patience. I'd like to introduce to you the lovely Caycee Black! She has been seen here before, but now she is launching her own clothing line. Caycee is my ballerina loving sidekick chick. Together she and I hunt down inspiration at the image library, drink tea and toast over our drafting tables with pink champagne!!! I hope you love some of these looks as much as I do. And if you are a buyer you may contact her via Ju Ju showroom:

JUJÚ The Showroom & JUJÚ The PR
270 Lafayette Street, Suite 505
New York, NY 10012

My life is a collage of paintings, films, ballet and digging for
treasures in my grandmother’s closet. The shadows of film noir
seep through my mind as desaturated scenes of events that
have yet to unfold. Tulle and organza are a canvas on which my
paintings take flight. The trees in the park cast shadows over the
etched sidewalks and turn to ink dripping down my wall.
I am enveloped inside each silhouette of my collection.

Vena Cava Inspired

This post is dedicated to the Brooklyn-centric girl's behind the label VENA CAVA!!! Sophie Buhai was one of my favorite classmate's at Parson's School of Design. I spent senior year draping in the same studio as she and her quirky sense of fashion. She would stroll into class in vintage dresses and a smile. We shared many great talks, and Cat Power marathons through out the term. Now she designs and tackles the fashion world with her friend Lisa Mayock.

Vena Cava by angellustnyc
Both Tops above by VENA CAVA,Boots by Alexander McQueen, the rest are items I picture their customer wearing to fit the look.

VENA CAVA is releasing a shoe line with Via Spiga, the shoes will go for 300 to 800 dollars. Monk fish skin was one of the materials they used to design the high end heals.

Watch this inspiring video. The two chat about their design processand their inspiration.

My favorite thing about Sophie was the modesty she had about her entire life from her childhood surrounded by famed individuals to her endless supply of eccentric talent. Her innocent child like face and sense of humor where a joy to be around and made light of things during an intense school year.

Chris Han Stunning Catwalk Show!!!

My footage of the Chris Han show...

Chris Han is another designer MAO PR brings to the tents. Her RTW clothing brings a deep sense of femininity to the catwalk, her own prints and intense draping action in certain pieces. Chris Han is a master of romance, sophisticated romance that is. These pieces are for the girly girl who has blossomed into a mature woman.

I look forward to seeing Chris Han grow as a designer. She is no stranger to fabric manipulation (a true sign of a formally trained designer a la Parson's School of Design)!!!

In an industry that is now being taken over by the actress/celebutant/pop star clothing lines, Thank God for MAO the showroom/PR house that is dead set intent on keeping authentic talent alive.

Backstage and name dropping at THE BLONDS

New York fashion week tends to be a bit seemingly boring at times. All shows thrown by MAO never seem to fail me. Last night if you missed Phillipe and David Blond's runway costume design extravaganza, then you missed out big. and I'm not just talking about the actual show. The crowd was equally important, the front row was filled with every hot fashionista brat in the business. Pat Field sat front row with shades on, yielding the flashing cameras. World famous Amanda Lepore was up front in her frilly pink frock, when the spotlight wasn't on here then it was on Andre J. No true MAO fashion show is absolutely complete without the legendary Warhol superstar Sylvia Miles with the Baroness Sherry von Korber-Bernstein and her feathered hats!!!

But enough party talk. I want to praise the Blond's for spicing up fashion week with their blingged out corsets, jeweled flesh toned bathing suits and feathered goods.

Thank you Coutorture for supplying pictures from the show.

This glammed up show was heavily accented with the finest jewels designed by Ramona Boucher, her couture jewelry line is called BASTION. I stumbled upon the table and chatted up with Ramona herself. To my surprise she told me that she designed that famous to die for rose diamond ring that Samantha owned on "Sex in the City" the movie!!! I told her a little bit about my baby headband company Angel Lust, and she said "Well maybe you and I should get together and design some head pieces together",My jaw dropped as she slipped me her business card. All I could think was "PROMISE???"...

She handed me one of her gorgeous rocks on a ring and said try it on,OMG was it hard to take off. Her good friend Chad helped me out in that area. Take a closer look at the beautiful rocks in his hands.

All the models where clad in blond wigs naturally, and their nails where even decked out like a disco ball with the help of Creative Nail Designs.

The crow clapped ridiculously hard as super model Alek walk out but it was nothing compared to the applause Phillipe Blond got himself as he strutted the runway at the end.

This was a true fashion moment that hasn't happened since Teri Toye hit the scene in the 80's.

Here is one of the little models backstage getting her hair undone.

Here's me with my crazy Japanese vixen hair dresser Ayumie. She's been working at the Patricia Field hair Salon for like 13 years now and anyone I send to her they leave happy and go back for more. Mention my name "KRISTEN" and you just might get the girlfriend discount...But no promises!!!

Elise Overland does things her way...

Elise Overland is someone I went to school with at one point in time and has always inspired me because she did things her own way even though none of the teachers understood her. Oh and because she used to custom make things for Steven Tyler. Watch this video to take some of the advice from her and other designers.

Last Monday's GOSSIP GIRL NIGHTS

Look it's me in ANGEL LUST head to toe (I can't wait to do cloths again) I barely post my pick up but it is necessary for this shindig !!!!

POP LOUNGE is swank hot and delicious!!! We kicked it open as one big LES/Angel Lust commercial. I created the sponsor free ANGEL LUST Swag Bag in an effort to get smaller companies that I work with or, seriously enjoy associating myself with,in an effort to get some uptown girls and boys to check out downtown!!!

Here is a look at what GOSSIP GIRL NIGHTS part one went down with. I love the lobster rolls at Pop Burger with a bottle of wine of course.

A Gossipy Little Fairy Tale on the LES....

Once upon a time 10 years ago,in the LES of NYC,a little space on the corner of Stanton Street and Ludlow appeared magically...This was not any shop this was SHOP!!! All the struggling fashionistas, and tragically trendy kids in the east village started to pass by weekly. A brand new boutique with hip young independent labels had appeared all in one spot!!! As time came about new edgy jewelry designers such as Wendy Nichol and Bearhead Factory were placed inside SHOP for all sorts of downtown darlings to play finders keepers with. Before we knew it an array of ballet flats to boots had arrived due to the neighborhood's demand for dancing....

One music venue after another gradually opened for blocks up and down the street. Designer Bags came in,elegant clutches started to appear above racks of denim and live amongst the head pieces. Why? Because "Sex and the City" was on weekly and brought brunch to new exquisite heights. Time was passing and fashion was growing like never before. SHOP became to overcrowded for its little spot on Stanton Street and had to be reinvented onto 94 Orchard Street along with an online shop ILoveShop.com.
Angel Lust studded head piece on SHOP keeper Seymour...

Angel Lust bow headband on SHOP keeper Kristen

As "Sex and the City" ended and "Gossip Girl" aired with stylist Eric Damon's brainchild "Blair Waldorf" was created spawning a trend of Bows across the fashion circuit as well as headbands. So Kristen May the Angel Lust Fairy came to SHOP and sprinkle her headbands and silk sparkley bows around the place as did other designers on everything from bags to blouses!!!

Come Join us at Pop Burger September 1,2008 for the first ever "Gossip Girl Nights"!!! Sign up and RSVP at Cult Indie,a site dedicated to spreading the innovative across the universe....
