Footwear Expo Update: Grand Finale

Just a quick few words to summarize the amazing experience that was Footwear Expo 2008. Two weeks packed with fantastic releases, fun events and shopping for all. I am proud to report tha over $850 000 L was raised to benefit the ASPCA. And for us at On Your Toes it was a crazy two weeks that including 30 new blog posts, a chance to have a booth at the expo, and be part of such a great large scale event! My thanks goes to Graciana McMillan, Jonny Tobias, and Iustinian Tomsen for their contributions to the blog. Also, to Jhuzen Ketsugo, Incolumis Lancaster and the others who submitted photos for the Museum Exhibit. It was a huge task!

Congrats to Phoenix Chapman, the Footwear Expo Volunteers & Vendors, Metro Models, Hathor Models, Photo Contest Participants (winning photo information will be posted when we have it), Rezzables, and YOU-The Readers of On Your Toes, the people who buy the shoes!

Footwear Expo Update: Hays Uriza

Well Footwear Expo is in it's final hours, and if you haven't gone to take a look yet... just get your butts on over there! Not only will your purchases make your feet happy, but with proceeds benefiting the ASPCA, you can make some animals happy too!

So here is my last feature post for the expo, and my apologies to any vendors who had new releases or items they hoped I would get to. In any case let's discuss these sexy, shiny shoes from Hays Uriza which I found completely irresistible. The Cyndi are part fetish, part mainstream and all the way hot... the shape and glossy looking textures make me giddy! They come in a variety of rich jewelled tones, and might just be enough to get you to the store to see the rest of this amazing creators items.

Footwear Expo Update: Lazy Places

Maximum cuteness overload when I saw these Vlinder Boots in the Lazy Places booth at Footwear Expo. What girl doesn't love butterflies? These chunky black boots, with silver buckles and straps come with a few little stationary friends, and even more that magically rez and float around you. The butterflies are not just particle, they are actually prim wing flapping butterflies that fly. They come in an assortment of exotic butterfly species and colors, and even a multiple species version as a bonus when you buy the fatpack. I couldn't resist the Monarch, since they seem to follow me around in RL too.

Footwear Expo Update: Solé

Some of my earliest pairs of shoes in SL were by Asri Falcone. They were pretty spectacularly made... and I still have them. But I have honestly not gone anywhere near Asri's shop in forever, and I was really missing something. It took Footwear Expo planting her booth right near mine to get me to notice these amazing Daisy Shoes. The name of the shop has changed too, now its Solé. Just seeing these latest shoes lined up in rows in the booth made me drool. like pieces of candy in amazing shades and 2-tone versions. The shape was really irresistable. I can't wait to see what's next!

Footwear Expo Update: Jaywalk

The new releases just don't seem to end this week, but it has been a while since Lyra Muse of Jaywalk has given me reason to slip into her fun footwear. Imagine my delight when I saw her latest, the Patriza Sandals, a sleek looking thong sandal with upscale detailing. I instantly went digging for a sexy bikini... and even some blond hair! They come in plenty of great solid colors, and then these too good to pass up 'checker' versions. Sophisticated flip flops if you will, I really like them.

Footwear Expo Update: Pictorial Shoe Museum

Well, it was another amazing adventure for the Shoe Crew, who, after making the discovery of these pieces of footwear history buried deep below the Expo, resurrected them and now happily share them with all shoe lovers - A Selected Pictorial History of Footwear in Second Life.

150 pairs of shoes, that's 300 feet of creativity. Images collected from volunteers, 'On Your Toes' team members & friends. I wished for some even earlier examples, and maybe a few more men's items... but even still it's a fun little exhibit... and If you plan on visiting or revisiting the Footwear Expo (btw - I see some new vendors have set up!) we hope you'll pop by for a peek... see how many of these might be in your own inventory!

Footwear Expo Update: SLink

SLink has a nice presence at the footwear expo, and it hasn't really been all that long since we first started seeing great shoes and boots from creator Siddeon Munro. You will be excited to see these 2 latest releases from SLink, the Classic Pumps, and the O Wedge Slides. The Classic Pumps are just that, with the added dazzle of a 'twinkle on/off' adornment on the toe. The O Wedge gets as much attention for what isn't there (part of the wedge) as much as for what is... a fun wood soled slide, great summer shoe!

Melanie Zhao makes great shoes, the quality is consistently impressive... and she truly works the traditional prim as well as anyone can work a sculpty. Footwear Expo Update: Bax Boots

Oh Yeah! It's some white patent leather love from Bax Coen of Bax Boots. When Bax dropped her latest on me this morning I knew exactly what to expect... sexy, perfectly detailed lace up ankle boots. But these are really a whole bunch different than what Bax has created before, these are a sculpted boot... and the shape and fit are sensational. They come with scripted modifiable parts for perfect fit and custom color accents. The white patent seems somehow perfect for the hot summer nights... white and fresh and ready for some dancing in the hottest of clubs, with the hottest of DJs.

Footwear Expo Update: DeLa

The shoes seem to speak to me lately, they tell me what to wear to play them up... and these 'Mika Ribbon' Pumps from DeLa sent me in a decidedly retro mood. Simple great looking sculpted pumps accented with black and red ribbon bows. These shoes have so many things I love, we all know I am a sucker for bows! Kuranosuke Kamachi has spent some time recently expanding her repertoire to include clothing and accessories, but her shoes have always been outstanding.

Footwear Expo Update: Runway Show

One of today's exciting events was the much anticipated Footwear Expo Runway Show. Alaska Metropolitan, and models from both Metro Models and newly formed Hathor Models put on a great show, especially considering that a footwear only runway show has never been tackled in SL to my knowledge. The unique presentation showcased designs from many of the Expo vendors, and also introduced some exciting new releases to make us drool. Models dressed only in mannequin skins and footwear, posed on a bare white stage... really highlighting the footwear as intended. Congrats on a great show everyone!

Footwear Expo Update: Indyra Originals

Time for another 'On Your Toes' first timer! Welcome Indyra Originals, whose booth at the Expo really grabbed my attention - especially this huge platform wedge sandal called Coquette Noir Sunset. It comes in a nice assortment of colours, and the height gives your legs and unmistakably long look. Love the golden nail heads in the wooden wedge... sexy! Make sure you take a look at all the great styles Indyra Seigo has created... some great stuff. I also noticed a white hot freebie tucked into her booth. :))

Footwear Expo Update: Katat0nik [Stomp Lightly]

A giant leap out of my usual comfort zone, and into these amazing offerings from Katat0nik [Stomp Lightly], and I love every second of it! The amazing quality and range of colors alone make me happy, but when looking at these creations from designer extraordinaire Katat0nik Pidgeon, it is clear she has not only mastered the art of fun sculpted footwear, but managed to create an appealing line of clothing that works hand in hand with it. It's part Punk, part Lolita, part Goth and a smidgen of Hasbro... if you know what I mean!

Footwear Expo Update: Juicy

The minute I saw these I got this bizarre urge to dress up like a Barbie Doll and dance around in a pretty pink castle. Well, maybe not quite that urge, but certainly I knew which dress I wanted to wear with these Sparkly Iridescent Pumps from Juicy. The perfectly pink pumps are equipped with a sparkling particle effect, not to be confused with bling... this is a softer more fantasy inspired glimmer. The release was timed to coincide with Shoe Expo, and they come in both the Pink and a Pearl version. The Pink, adorably named 'Twinkle Toes', touts 100% of proceeds going to ASPCA. Get thee to the Juicy Booth at Footwear Expo and get something girly on!

Footwear Expo Update: Enkythings

Wow! An unexpected pleasure when Enktan Gully of Enkythings dropped his latest on me, the Ekota. It's an amazing strappy pump, unlike anything I have seen in SL before. Beautiful shape, and wraps the foot flawlessly. Comes in 24 beyond delicious colors, and that means no mater what color Nicky Ree gown you need to match (shout out to Mui!), or any other sexy summer look for that matter, these shoes are probably gonna be a safe bet. Elegant and still sexy. Visit the Enkythings Booth at Shoe Expo now!

Footwear Expo Update: Maitreya

Maitreya's Booth is definitely not one to be missed at the Expo, and it it is the only place you will ever find these, Virtue Sandals in Black Patent. Nestled dead centre in the booth, the Virtue Sandals are a limited time item, available only during Expo, all proceeds from these shoes go to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). So in addition to some spectacular sandals, you get the warm fuzzies for helping a great cause. No complaints from me!

Footwear Expo Update: FUEL

A great 'pair' of releases from Miss Sandy Cleghorn of FUEL at the Expo! Here are the adorable flat and sassy Chibs (make sure you zoom on these to check out the handwritten cuteness, love that!) and some spectacular gladiator style sandals called Naima. Chibs come in a great bunch of colors, the Naima come in a patent and ash. Make sure you check out Sandy's booth at Expo here!

Footwear Expo, Contests & More!

If you haven't heard already there is a very big thing happening in the shoe world very soon! The inaugural SL Footwear Expo is specifically designed to showcase the many amazing shoe designers around the grid and to raise money for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The event will run from July 12th through July 27th, 2008. Sixty-five Shoe designers from across the grid will be showcasing their creations (some with new items introduced at the expo!) and helping to sponsor and support the benefit. In addition there will be a fashion show, musical entertainment, a photography contest and exhibit, a huge raffle, and a massive blow-out party at the end of the Expo. Yay!

Questions should be directed to Phoenix Chapman, Coordinator.

One of the exciting events planned at the Expo is a Photo Contest!

RULES:

Anyone may enter the contest, with as many pictures as they like, wearing any shoes that they like. The shoes should be the focus of the picture.

Twenty finalists will be chosen for display at the fair. The twenty finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges. No two pictures will be by the same person.

The final winner will be chosen by anyone who votes at the fair! Note that anyone caught campaigning for votes will be disqualified from the contest.

There will be a grand prize winner, a runner up and a second runner up.

Deadline: photos for contest must be submitted no later than midnight July 10th slt.

CONTEST TIME FRAME:

20 Photos will be selected by a judging panel as finalists These top 20 photos will be displayed at the Footwear Expo Voting will take place at the Expo and is open to anyone attending grand prize and 1st and 2nd place runners up will be determined by vote, voting will be open from July 13th through close of the expo July 26th.
