StyleCard: Kalnins More for Men

Take two for Kalnins Footwear for men, stepping away from sneakers for some laced up classics and amazing leather textures. Maris Kanto has created quite a few great looking styles for men and women, the Milestone and Florenza live up to that standard easily.


The versatility of these shoes starts with the ability to change color to any of the eleven shades included, additional customization in the form of fitting, glow, and shine, extend the life of this footwear from dressed up casual to more formal dressing. The Milestone shoes feature a richly textured leather and suede combination, with a metal loop at the bottom of the laces that can be changed between silver, gold and black. The Florenza is reminiscent of finely tooled Italian leather, with built in shine, another great pair.

This is part one of two posts on some great men's footwear from Kalnins. Maris Kanto sent an assortment of styles over to help balance out the male/female ratio on 'On Your Toes'. Once again Dave Casanova 'steps' in to help out in showing off the goods. Thanks Mister!


Taking a closer look at the sneaker styles from Kalnins, both the Dinamika and the Braxterz come equipped with multiple color options. Besides the eleven preset color combinations, that come with every pair, are additional customization tools that allow you to select and color different parts of the shoe, making these a very versatile option for men that prefer to rely on only one or two pairs of shoes in their inventory.The footwear comes with multiple other options to control size, shine, and glow aspects.

StyleCard: JCS... For The Boys

I have always tried to share a wide range of footwear on the blog, different styles, creators and collaborations, but what tends to be missing is shoes for the male avatar. They are out there, and some of them are really well made, but it's a bit hard to blog men's footwear when you are definitely not a male. Eponymous Trenchmouth of Jeepers Creepers Shoes (JCS) inquired if I would be able to review his latest releases, and I was happy to oblige, with the help of a very accommodating Dave Casanova... thank you, Dave!


These 2 new styles are great Casual shoes, the Miami Shoes and the Kix Shoes are a lace up style with a hint of an oxford feel and some athletic shoe inspired stripe detail. On the Miami the tan leather contrasts with the softly colored canvas that comes in soft 'Miami Vice' pastels; Peach, Blue, Cream and Sage.Golden grommets and white laces complete the style. The Kix Shoes feature richer tone-on-tone styling in shades of Green, Red, Black and Blue with color matched laces and soles.

StyleCard: SOREAL

Time to welcome a new face to 'On Your Toes'. Volcom Praga, KMADD Stylist, will be appearing from time to time to help us cover what's new and fashionable in men's footwear for our little blog. No time like the present, and SOREAL's much awaited follow up to the City Steps was a perfect opportunity to get this guy to show off some amazing footwear. The new Superstars are a great classic 3 stripe sneaker, with hyper realistic details from perforations to worn leather effects, and front to back perfect styling. (click image to enlarge.)

Volcom's casual look consists of some Aitui pants, a fun 'Rock is Dead' Tee from Gutta, Kari's Crate Digger shoulder bag and oversized sunglasses from VintageWear (VG Republic). Some great tattoos and new hair from MUISM help add up to a great look.

Beary Cute Sneaks

Ran into these Poo Bear CHUX the other night while shopping and just couldn't resist sharing them with you all. High-tops are all over the grid right now, and the amazing ones by Coke Dreadlow's UBU have garnered some well deserved attention. These likewise, created by Severely Ltd. under the names Juwan Lane and Maruko Sakigake, use sculpties made by Coke. The ones I am showing off come complete with an adorable Teddy Bear lashed to the side of the right shoe and a cute hand scribbled flower on the left one, they are scripted for size change too. There are 4 women's styles available in the JuJu's Closet shop at 'The Cube', and one that I presume to be unisex available in WMD (Weird Monkey Designs) just across the way. I have included the in-store displays so you can get an idea of these other looks.

FNKY News

Sale Alert! Maybe it's just news to me, but yesterday I discovered that FNKY has marked down it's footwear collection by, as near as I can tell, as much as half price (if someone knows for sure I'd be happy to post the details). I've been eyeing the T Strap pumps for a good while now, and was happy to grab these pink ones up for the very reasonable sale price.


Also noteworthy, the great men's shoes - some of my favorite ever guy's casuals -have been marked down, along with the unisex Kicks, an all around great suede sneaker.

On HIS Toes

Tesla Miles is such a tease! She goes and gets me all excited about a new release this week, only to drop on me 6 pairs of... men's shoes. *groans* OK, I can do this! All I need to do is find some willing male feet - Oh! and looky... isn't that Caelen Mata and his adorable feet right there. Yay! So here it is, a review of Tesla's first steps into the land of male footwear.

OK for starters can we just acknowledge the fact that men's and women's footwear and avatar feet for that matter are very different, so for Tesla to tackle a new challenge like this is really admirable. And the truth is she has done a really nice job on these Leather Oxfords, they are simple and well constructed, nice textures and shapes - and in 6 wearable shades.

These come with a resizer script and I really didn't ask Cael to play around with it (thus, the slightly smallish feet in these shots), but it is a great feature and the instructions are easy enough to follow. Now I need to go take this handsome man dancing, in his nice new Oxfords... see how that works? :)

For the Boys... and Girls.

Ever since my co-blogger Joel has been under the weather, On Your Toes has been keenly lacking a dose of testosterone. In an attempt to remedy this situation, when I caught sight of this piece about SOREAL on the Vain Inc. blog - I decided to gather up the troops and make a day of it. Lucky for me I have an address book just overflowing with the hottest male models in SL! I was lucky to catch Jonny Tobias and Steve Hansen online, and they generously agreed to follow me and Graci on a window shopping trip around 'Fashion Mode' legend Ashlin Leandros' new San Leandros sim, scheduled to open in all it's shopping glory this coming Saturday.

SOREAL creator Kwamey Pinion (pictured below) has really done wonders here, both the sculpty work and the texturing are incredible... the City Steps Sneakers look so real I was tempted to peel open the Velcro closures (yes Joel, Velcro!) just to hear that familiar sound. If you have read this blog before you might recall I rarely go anyplace without a pair of stilettos on. But these feel good... so good. They look perfectly at home on male and female feet and come in fantastic color combinations and fabrications, available singly, in multi-packs or the ultimate - a colorchange HUD option that lets you have all 13 looks in your footwear arsenal.

SOREAL is still in it's early stages, only a few items up for grabs at the moment (including the black and blue jacket Steve is wearing) but make note of the name - I expect some great things yet to come.

For The Boys

The work of a shoe blogger in SL is never done, it's not all glitz and glam and great shoes - sometimes you have to watch very, very, pretty boys strut their stuff on the runway. Today was that day, as KaDeWe had it's debut show of 2008. It featured the fantastic footwear of Eponymous Trenchmouth's Jeepers Creepers and it was a truly great show executed by the KaDeWe team and it's male models.

Epo, as he is referred to by those who are fortunate enough to know him, and his Jeepers Creepers are already favorites with the 'On Your Toes' shoe crew - but seeing these shoes on the runway really enhanced my opinion of this great footwear. I lagged and eventually crashed out on the finale of the show, so here are the few photos I did manage to take and am happy to share with you now. Make sure you visit Jeepers Creepers main store or one of his many satellite locations, including the KaDeWe Mall, to see the full collection. Be sure and check out the OSLO Boots that Joel reviewed for us previously. As a side note, ladies if you want to see your SL guy in some nice shoes - all of Jeepers Creepers shoes are transferable, so they make great gifts for your shoe challenged fellas.
