Doing the Designer Line Up at Henri Bendel's

So as I am approaching what I believe is the end of a line at Henri Bendel's at 7:30 am it turns out its the beginning!!! I asked the first few "By the way,what time did you get here?" their response 2am...OK so I can understand if you really just have an undying need to be first rather than all the way at the end of a line. However the doors open at 9am so technically those first few people where waiting out in the cold a whole lot longer than me. I'm not kidding there is nothing sexy about camping out in your sleeping bag on fifth avenue in the cold or hot. My advice would be to sleep in a bit and arrive ready and organized between 6am and 7am. Time goes by fast in the company of other trend setters, and once the line starts to move it moves quickly. You have a total of 2 minutes to sell and show yourself to the buyers,they know immediately whether they are interested or not. You don't have a moment to take your coat off in the presence of the buyers. Simply open up your case of items and layout a look book or line sheet attached with your business card. The buyer will offer you the opportunity of an in house trunk show at Henri Bendel's on the spot. There are a few categories they are looking for which are,swim wear,lingerie,accessories and skincare. At one point a woman came outside to announce anyone showing swim wear and lingerie please come forward. So a few lucky designers ended up cutting in much earlier.

There are so many people from different walks of life. You'll meet everyone from the nearly fresh out of school fashionista such as Priestesse to the single mother of 2 kids like Jewelry designer Debra Skyler. Debra Skyler's line of yoga influenced jewelry Light was beautiful gold casted and diamond accented. I was floored and could immediately picture it on Madonna's manicured fingers and with one quick snap of a paparazzi cam "click" everyone in Hollywood wood want to own a piece to wear to their next Kabbalah class. Unfortunately I overheard one of the jewelry buyers say we don't by high end jewelry with diamonds here. Stuff like that would be nice to know before you hang out all morning with the hopes of getting a chance.

But in any case you will learn something new and meet a few more people on the way to the top.

Relay For Life, for Feet.

Some very special offerings from our great SL™ shoe makers that deserve some attention are those created to support Relay For Life®. Albero grand opening challenge - Sakura goodie shrine hunt

Until March 31st ALBERO2 (Cilix (55, 88, 29) is celebrating it's grand opening. They are doing this by having a hunt around the mall area. First collect all the passwords. You'll find these in black boxes with white numbers; touch to receive a note card with the password on it. Then you teleport to the stores that have the 'main store' sign out front. Once at the store you should find a black box with a white number on it (corresponding with the password box). If you've collected that "#" secret password then copy and paste the password from the notecard into general/open chat and press enter. Viola you get a prize. There are more than 15 prizes and a couple for the guys like the hair I'm sporting in the first photo. Collect them all and good luck. (More about the hunt on Sachi's blog here.)

The prizes are shown with Rosemar skin (the slurl isn't exact since these have moved to her freebie section), other freebies that were found at the main stores offering prizes, and First Egg [JPL OSAKA (188, 31, 23)] (black - mules) shoes. Also featured are necklace/tags found in the Sakura Shrine hunt done on the JPL sims & others you can look around for a giant temple while picking up the shoes at First Egg. Just follow the Sakura (cherry) trees around until you find the temples and touch the prize ball machine to receive a necklace.




You can camp for cherry trees if you sit on the PINK ball in the little sitting areas on the JPL sims. You can see the seating area in the background of this photo. ONLY the PINK ball is a camper spot - 20 minutes earns you one sakura tree in one of 3 sizes (sm, med, large).



If you touch the necklace/tags that you win from the prize machines you'll enjoy a shower of particles.

Via one of my groups I was alerted to another store selling stolen content from at least the following designers: ETD, Maitreya, Last Call, Naughty Designs, Cake, FNKY, Armidi, Deviant Kitty, Agrace, and Dutch Touch. Pretty low. Take a look for yourself: A & F Designs (Airfare (211, 99, 22) The landmark isn't exact as they bounced my arse and banned me lol.

Revolutionary in Rubber

I thought I had seen it all... OK, I never thought that, but these great new Rubba boots from Storm Schmooz caught me completely off guard. Bright in golden yellow and emblazoned with a flamingo pink pop art image of Che Guevara these high heeled, high shine boots are completely fab, right down to the pink grommet and tie accents.

So nice to see designers using the shoe or boot as a canvas for imagery and art. My guess is that this is just the first of some upcoming great new items from Storm Schmooz, so regular visits to the main store at Viva La Glam are highly recommended.

Rare Beauties

Maitreya's latest, called the Mishima Dawn, is named after a rare exotic orchid... how fitting. This pump with ankle boot aspirations is the most amazingly complete shoe yet released by Onyx and Beau, and the fit is awe inspiring. The colours are muted and earthy, the textures run the gambit from soft to speckled suedes, and rough to high shine patent leathers, and crocs... all of which are rendered with undeniable precision. Shown below is the Patent Tan, my personal fave.

There are 25 variations in all, some -much like the Slinky Stiletto- come with optional steel heel accents. Highly Un-Heeled

I love shopping at Mimikri, great stuff - great colors... but until today I had basically ignored the Sven Olbers footwear department in the Mimikri Hot Couture main store. Today that changed when I saw these interesting 'heel-less' heels on the feed. I scooted my butt on over to check them out and decided on grabbing the Green-Flower version to share here... well unfortunately it seems the vendor contained the Aqua-Flower ones... one of those things that can happen**. No worries, I left an offline for Sven and proceeded over to 'heart' Cupcakes to see the dress newness I had yet to see. Found a great dress - that I just LOVE with the colours of the Aqua shoes - so really, things ended up well.

The Shoes are of the traditional prim variety, and are certainly attractive and 'on trend' with real world fashion. I love the bright colorful versions especially. As with many one piece ankle strap shoes you will see a bunch of ankle glitching as your ao plays or you pose, but that doesn't really bother me much when wearing. I did see a few tiny issues with the invisible prims making my toes look a bit short in places, not enough to deter me from wearing these though. Any minor issues are completely overshadowed by the great style of these 'heel-less' heels.

Frick and loving it!

I got a notecard (thanks for the notecard!) from Trinity Outlander and decided to check out her suggestion - Frick. It just so happens that {Frick} (Blackmount (98, 137, 64) is having a skin hunt, but it ends today so run there NOW! 5 eggs are hidden around filled with female skins in addition to a couple free on the wall to the right when entering the store. Irresistible

Well is certainly seems like sandal season is upon us, so many great releases in the past few weeks... they are certainly keeping me on my toes... hehe, get it? *slaps knee* Without the beautiful Graciana here to help cover the latest shoe news from across the grid, it seems I am forced to have to review all these lovelies myself, and really - no complaints from me. Just look at these amazing new Celine Sandals from DeLa... couldn't you die! Kuranosuke Kamachi has done it again - love, love, love 'em.

The sculpted heel and base on these sexy sandals is a most attractive shape, really well done. Incredible colorful textile wrap on the toe, and the wow factor of a tied ankle and hanging sculpt and flex bow, sensational. The eye catching metal and semi-precious stone accents are simply gorgeous.My only problem was deciding which one to wear today... I eventually settled on this spectacular Zebra.

I think I officially bought one pair of shoes too many...and killed my laptop! Seriously, it up and died...so until it gets fixed I have to suffer on a very, very, old machine. I also don't have PSP..and I think I might go crazy...I had to use paint????? Anyways, if you are wondering what shoe box I am hiding in, I just wanted you all to know! I still am around as much as I can be...and am Anessa's biggest fan, so I know you will be very well taken care of!

Spring Sprung, Finally.

Yay! I am so happy that the work of changing Retrology over to Spring has been completed. I was getting so tired of the snow and drab, but all that is gone now and it's blooms of color all around. Part of my Spring ritual involved a bit of cleaning for my bulging 'to review' folder, and that's when I remembered these sweet floral sandals that I have been hanging on to for months. Today seemed like the perfect day to share them.

These Flower Strap Mules by Luly are just too sweet. They look as if they have been made from twisting vines and pretty flowers, and I love the way the provided foot shape works with them - a nice balanced fit no squashed toes or wonky arch. The set of 3 pairs comes with matching flower necklaces, and though I am showing you the green versions - they also come in Black and Sepia with various flower colors.

One to Watch: JE*REPUBLIC

My RL sister Jhuzen Ketsugo tipped me off to a great little shop last week, and we immediately collaborated our dress buying talents to do a post for her blog, SL Fashion Addict on the neat stuffs at JE*REPUBLIC. Creator Jungeun Vella makes more than adorable dresses, she dabbles in making some super cute hair and accessories... and oh yes - boots!

As luck would have it I ran into Jungeun at a recent fashion show and while complimenting her on her great things she offered me the opportunity to share a look at these great Leg Warmer Boots with the readers of 'On Your Toes'. I am so pleased to make her only the second One to Watch in this blog's history. The boots are great and funky and I love the shape of the gold buckles.

Sexy New Sandals

Over in the land of Camilla Yosuke, home to some of the sexiest lingerie on the grid, there has been an often overlooked element- that being the shoe department. INSOLENCE is a well known name these days, the lingerie gets attention, the skins too are pretty great... but I am the shoe girl first and foremost, so I am thrilled to share with you the latest release from this gifted creator, which I was lucky enough to receive today.

The April Sandal is a classy sexy sandal with sculpted elements that add sparkle and pizazz. These shoes are amazingly well textured and there is a lot of nice detail going on too. I love them paired with this slinky mini dress look from Ivalde, but they work just as well with your favorite summer skirts, dresses and lingerie... my guess is they look just fine on you naked too.

Indie Starlet on the rise Amber Heard

I can just tell this little sex kitten "Amber Heard" is gonna be one of my new found faves, along side Evan Rachel Wood or Rose McGowen. Why does every actress I love end up in the arms of Marilyn Manson? Wow world low and behold we're going to have an it girl with talent, what a concept, famous for being good at something. Oh and she's got awsome style... I'm looking forward to her upcoming role in the horror flick "All the Boys love Mandy Lane"!!! I've always had a thing for B list horror films but this looks like a step up. I'm pretty sure this indie hottie will be the next chick designers will be all over. I know I am already one of them. Oh and don't let me forget to give a shout out to my girl Beatrice Neumann for shooting such hot photo's for MISSBEHAVE MAG!!!
