Girl with a pearl earring

'Girl with a pearl earring' by Jan Vermeer was painted in 1665. I find with paintings that are as famous as this one or Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa', that it's easy to overlook it's beauty because they're paintings that you've just grown up being aware of in one way or another. Or maybe this is just me. But i was recently looking into Vermeer out of interest, and ended up looking at a huge picture of Girl with a Pearl Earring. Seeing it so large really allowed me to see the beauty of it. It's stunning. If you just look at the emotion on her face - the way her eyes glisten. I can't even begin to describe in words how the emotion that is portrayed, but you feel it when you look into her eyes. Just WOW. Click on the image for the huge version.
