Joanna Newsom

Brrr...it would appear that our heating has decided to break just as the weather has gone uber cold once again :/. Currently wrapped up in a fleecy blanket on the sofa infront of the gas fire, with a hot coffee. So all's not lost. Note to students: You know it's got bad when you can't remember the last time you came home and did schoolwork. Admittedly i have been revising instead for a few weeks but i actually cannot remember the last time i did this. So after this post it'll be English lit work, with a break to watch 'the city' (utter rubbish i know but i like seeing all the fashiony things!) and then finishing the Alchemist, which i shouldn't be reading and haven't had much time to do so of late, so that i can get onto the matter in hand - Wuthering heights for my Lit coursework. It's been official for pretty much as long as i can remember but just to clarify - I HATE SCHOOL.

Anywaay! I do have a music page on this blog but i'm not confident that anyone who has ever looked at this blog has actually looked at it, and this needs to be looked at. And listened to. I'm ashamed to say that besides these songs from Joanna Newsom, i've failed to look into the rest of her material, but i'm so hung up on these three i really don't even need to right now. And i've been listening to these for about 10 months. Admittedly - she's a bit of a grower (or atleast she was for me). But once the growing had finished i, personally, was completely in love.

I'm really not a fan of the version of this song - 'Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie' - from her album 'Milk Eyed Mender'. But the EP version of it is stunning and much more similar to the Jools Holland version that i first heard. Here's those two:

'81 - Absolutely magical. Unlike 'Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie', the album version of this is equally stunning, but i've chosen the Jools Holland version to post as it's good quality and shows how beautiful she is in every way:

Jackrabbits - Initially i wasn't as keen on this as the above two, however after a few more listens it's hard to imagine how i wasn't in love from the word go. I'm sorry to repeat myself, but this is just beautiful:

Lots of love
Lucy
